Microsoft Outlook Error 0x80042109 : How to Fix Send Receive Error

Microsoft Outlook Error 0x80042109 is a common error which usually pop up when Outlook cannot connect to your Outgoing(SMTP) email server. This error prevents your mail to move outside and Outlook screen produces a send / receive error as shown in below screen.

Sending and Receiving' reported error (0x80042109) clearly specifies that Outlook is unable to connect to your outgoing SMTP mail server. Reset the Outlook Outgoing Server Details (SMTP):

Default assigned value of SMTP for Outlook is 25 but after alteration in this value you need to reset it by 587. With the help of Internet Service Provider, users can troubleshoot this issue. To fix this send/ receive error you can simply change SMTP details.

How to Fix Outlook Error 0x80042109

 Open Microsoft Outlook and hit the "File" button.

 Hit the "Data File Management" tab.

 A new "Account Settings" screen will appear.

Note: If you are using Outlook 2010 & 2013 then follow the given path :

File >> Options >> Account Settings >> Account Settings

 Hit the "Email" tab and pic out the email address which is causing the error.

 Choose an email address, make a double click on it.

 Press the "More Settings" button.

 Go to "Advanced" tab.

Change the SMTP value: "25" to "587" and select the “TLS” in “Use the following type of encrypted connection” section
